Yes, grooming appointments do seem to take longer than human haircuts. It's almost like a full doggy spa day but with more barking and less cucumber.

The average groom time is usually 2 hours, but this generally depends on the dog's size, behavior, and coat type/length/condition.

However, the answer is far more complicated...

Just a brief glimpse of our days: poop, pee, anxious dogs, old dogs, unexperienced puppies, badly matted dogs, and hyper dogs all take more time to groom.

Grooming techniques like hand-stripping or full scissor cuts may take longer too.

If your dog hasn’t been groomed in quite some time (or at all), expect to have a longer appointment. The more frequently a dog comes in, the less time the groom takes. So, we recommend to keep your pup’s grooming regime on point.

If you have an appointment elsewhere and you need your dog back in time, please advise us when you drop your dog off. We promise to do our best, but we can’t always work miracles.

Please be patient as you can see now get 1-2 hours behind. Grooming is nothing like a washing machine cycle; its time interval sometimes depends on unseen factors too—like whether your dog decides to have a mid-groom snack break or cuddles!

If you don’t get a message or phone call from us in 2 hours, please give us a ring or a text for a further time estimate. Please do not turn up unexpectedly, as this will make your dog overexcited, resulting in a longer appointment and dangerous situations as we work with sharp equipments. We all know how hard it is to calm a pup who thinks it’s playtime with their owner!

Understanding these factors can help set realistic expectations for your dog’s grooming appointment, ensuring a smoother experience for both you and your pet. After all, we want your pup to leave looking fabulous, not like they just survived a tornado!

  1. Check-in and Initial Assessment (5-10 minutes) – Discussing your dog’s needs and any special instructions with the groomer. Think of it as the pre-groom chit-chat, just without the coffee!

  2. Bathing (10-30 minutes) — Washing the dog with appropriate shampoo and conditioner. Because every dog deserves a proper bubble bath, right?

  3. Drying (30-60 minutes) — Depending on the coat, drying can involve towels, hand-held dryers, high velocity dog dryers.

  4. Brushing and Detangling (15-30 minutes) — Essential for removing loose fur and preventing mats.

  5. Hair Trimming (30-60 minutes) — Haircuts or trims based on the breed standard or owner’s request.

  6. Final Touches (5-30 minutes) — Nail trimming, ear cleaning, and any final styling. Because every dog deserves to leave looking like a superstar!

I hope this article will help with better understanding of the grooming time.

Thank you for your cooperation!
